Departure: Nairobi (by road – approx. 3 to 4 hours)
Activities: Game drives, photography, leisure, scenic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi at around 6:30 AM. The journey to Amboseli is smooth and scenic,
passing through rolling hills, rural towns, and eventually opening up to the vast flatlands of Kajiado County. Along the way, you might
spot herds of Maasai cattle and get a feel for the rhythm of life in Kenya’s southern heartland.
Arriving at Amboseli in the late morning or around midday, you’ll check into a family-friendly lodge or tented camp offering spectacular
views of Mount Kilimanjaro—Africa’s highest peak, often visible on clear days. After a welcome drink and check-in, settle into your
rooms and enjoy a hearty lunch as elephants casually roam in the distance.
Later in the afternoon, set off on your first game drive. The golden hour in Amboseli is breathtaking—dusty plains lit by sunset, herds of
elephants crossing swampy areas, and giraffes silhouetted against the fading light. This leisurely drive sets the tone for the days ahead:
unhurried, immersive, and magical. Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxation by the fireplace or under the stars.
Wake up to the fresh morning air and the calls of birds, with a warm cup of tea or coffee served at dawn. Head out on an early morning
game drive when the animals are most active—this is prime time to spot lions before they retreat into the bush, hyenas on the move, and
hippos returning to water after a night of grazing.
Return to camp for a full breakfast, followed by time to relax while you enjoy a quiet moment on the deck. If staying at a lodge with a view
of the waterhole, you’ll likely see wildlife passing through even as you sip your juice or coffee.
In the afternoon, after lunch, enjoy another game drive—this time exploring different parts of the park. Visit Observation Hill, where you
can climb to the top for panoramic views of Amboseli’s landscape: swamps, dry lakebeds, and large animal herds stretching into the
distance.
Return to the lodge just before sunset. Tonight’s dinner can be served in a unique bush-style setup (on request), perfect for creating
unforgettable memories. Wind down the evening with storytelling or stargazing.
On your final day, enjoy a light sunrise game drive, soaking in the stillness of the morning and any last wildlife sightings. This is often
the most serene part of the trip—quiet roads, golden skies, and perhaps a final glimpse of elephants crossing the wetlands with Kilimanjaro
in the background.
After returning to the lodge, have a leisurely breakfast and begin the checkout process. You’ll then embark on the return journey to Nairobi,
with memories of the wild still fresh in your heart. Arrive back in the city by late afternoon, relaxed, reconnected, and already dreaming of
your next adventure.
